Well, I just did my first test drive on this map. My review:
PROS:
– Beautiful work in general
– I absolutely love 1:1 maps. I like to get in my truck and actually drive, not just steer around a couple of corners and then collect pay. This map does that and I love it.
– For a basic map just starting to form, this one has a HUGE amount of potential.
CONS:
– If you are not from Scandinavia, direction may be very confusing for you if you are trying to compare the layout to Google Maps or another map source, as the isle where Reime is appears to be completely reversed (North Vs. South) and the mainland appears to be rotated 90* (So in ETS2 if you are headed North, you would actually be traveling East in real life – same for South in ETS2 = West on the real life map). So do not plan to compare this to any map and get a match. You’ll definitely get lost 🙂
Despite the oddness of directions, the roads and scenery seem to compare really well to Google Maps, and I very much enjoyed my drive. As with any 1:1 map, don;t expect a 10 minute run between other hobbies around the house. My 1 hour and 45 minute calculated trip really did take me that amount of real time to do, so this truly is indeed a 1:1 scale map 🙂
I highly recommend this for lovers of 1:1 scale driving and lovers of Northern Scandinavia geography. I definitely look forward to more updates on this one, and this is going to be one of my main driving maps from now on unless a major ETS2 update breaks it 🙂
Not much size difference now, but the map is still in a beta, and it developes like the Hungary map, ProMods map, so something minor or major changes in each version. The map is in 1:1 scale, real-life scale. Hungary map is in 1:3 scale. When the map is fully completed, it will have a major size difference than the original
